1. Improve Insights API / CRE UI to enable semi-automated submissions by CREs

   Hi,

   I think it would be great for customers and CREs alike if CREs could, quickly and seamlessly, create multiple Custom Insights based on findings from deep technical dive meetings they hold with customers.

   A pilot use case I had in mind is Technical Kick-Offs (TKOs): These are multi-hour engagements that comprehensively cover the customer's architectural design as it involves walking through a long check-list of things to ask about. I have a CSI board task set up (https://doitintl.atlassian.net/jira/core/projects/CSI/board?selectedIssue=CSI-1507&text=insights) which describes the following workflow I'd like to build that, if enabled by an upgrade to the Insights API / web UI, would be an enormous time-saver for CREs and would encourage follow-through by the customer on action items uncovered during the TKO and other long-form calls:

   TKO/Customer Call Recording --> Insights Generator
   The idea behind this app would be to:

   1. Take a video recording (e.g. a TKO which can sometimes last hours) and use an LLM or a Transcription API to generate a transcript

   2. Send that transcript through another LLM conversation to uncover recommendations for the customer and format them to be compatible with the DoiT Insights API

   3. Call an Insights API that pre-populates the fields for a customer in a web browser UI that allows the CRE to review auto-generated Insights, update any of the fields, add new Insights or delete some, etc. before they are finalized & submitted to be visible to the customer.

   The feedback I have gotten from the CREs running TKOs is that in addition to the hours-long customer meeting, they wind up spending 1 to 2 full days writing up a summary of all of the findings and then working with the customer + TAM to deliver this information and encourage follow-through. Imagine if that 1-2 days could be converted to 5-10 minutes of post-call work from the CRE after a cutting-edge LLM parses the recording and sets up >95% of the recommendations correctly. CREs would just need to review the content of the Insights to make sure they're accurate, fix a few minor things or rephrase how some are written, and hit Submit for the customer to see. You could even have submission of CRE-submitted Insights ping the TAM or AM on the account to ensure they are never missed by the xAMs.

   I talked with Peter Mihal a few weeks back and he thought this was a great idea, but the product team needs to make time/prioritize to implement it. The Insights API is pretty bare-bones today and wouldn't fully support this use case as-is; see the up-to-date API docs here: https://doitintl.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ENG/pages/1060700170/Insights+APIs

   I think that having a web UI pop for the CRE to review that is auto-populated with the Insights submitted by an LLM is key to this, so it's not just an API support ask. I'm not sure how much work this would involve, but I can see it being reusable in a wide variety of use cases. Not just TKOs, but all general calls with customers could leverage this. It could even become a standard part of the CRE workflow: If you are meeting with a customer, ask if they're OK with recording it, and send that recording through an app that auto-generates Insights based on what was discussed.

2. Attributions to match Google SKU Groups

   Google provides a an API to access SKU Groups such as "Standard On-Demand VMs" or "Cloud Storage".

   By having Attributions (and further an overall Attribution Group), we could easily analyse spend based on these. It would be extremely helpful when preparing for GCP Commitments.

3. Allow for vertical adjustments and single metric display in custom dashboard

   Customer would like to be able to adjust reports vertically to make some reports larger in a dashboard. They would also like to display a single number, such as a health metric or total cloud cost, in a widget in a custom dashboard. This would make the dashboard tool more user-friendly and visually appealing.

4. Ramp Plan Alerts

   We would like to be able to get alerts either monthly or quarterly alerting us to how we are pacing toward our EDP Commitment. It would be helpful information to allow customers the visibly into potential shortfall that was automatically being sent out.

5. COUNT available in Reports

   Hi Team, would it be possible to include a COUNT aggregation similar to spreadsheets? the objective would be to identify in a report, how many individual values the report returned. For example, if I'm on AWS and I'm using AWS Workspaces, I would like to pull a report that is based exclusively on the "Resource" dimension and provides me how many unique values (i.e. how many unique resources, in this case) contributed to the metric (by default it's cost but could be any other metric we use)

6. Unified Budget and Forecast Report with Growth Factor

   Can we consider a forecast that includes budget, actual spend and forecast all in one report? Customers will then have the ability to track their current spend, see the forecasted spend with budget mapped across both spend metrics.

   Customers should also have the option to filter forecasted and actual spend by service and attribution. Lastly the ability to create a growth factor by month/quarter to incorporate future projects in the forecast will be key for the majority of FinOps users

7. Improved Labelling for Unallocated Costs in EKS Lens Reports

   Salut la Product Team,

   I am writing to request an enhancement to the EKS Lens reporting feature within the [Your Cloud Management Platform Name].
   I have noticed (and I am not the only one) that in the cost reports generated by EKS Lens, there are instances where costs are labeled as "N/A," particularly in relation to the "EC2-Other" category.
   This label is not very convenient for understanding the allocation of costs and can lead to confusion when analysing customers' cloud expenditure.

   Issue Encountered:
   In the Navigator EKS cost reports, it is frequently encountered that a label "N/A" which seems to be associated with costs that cannot be directly attributed to a specific resource or tag. This makes it challenging to fully understand and manage our cloud costs, as we (TAMs, CREs, Customers) cannot easily identify the source or reason for these unallocated expenses.

   Feature Request - what is expected:
   I would like to request the following features to be considered for implementation in EKS Lens:
   - Enhanced labelling mechanism: An improved system for labelling resources that currently fall under the "N/A" category. This could include automated suggestions for labelling based on resource type, usage patterns, or other identifiable characteristics.

   • Customisable label mapping: it would be very useful to be able to define custom label mappings for costs that are not directly attributable to a specific resource or tag. This would allow our customers to categorise and allocate these costs according to their internal accounting practices.

   • Detailed unallocated cost breakdown: A dedicated section or report within EKS Lens that provides a detailed breakdown of unallocated costs, including possible reasons for why they are not labeled and suggestions for how to address this.

   • Labelling policy enforcement: Tools or checks within EKS Lens to ensure that all resources within EKS clusters are labelled according to our organisation's policies, with alerts for any resources that are missing required labels.

   • then we need to teach them how to fish by providing some documentation and best practices for labelling within EKS Lens, including how to handle common scenarios that result in "N/A" labels and strategies for improving cost allocation accuracy.

   Impact:
   Implementing these features would greatly enhance our customers' ability to track and manage cloud costs with precision. It would also provide clarity for their finance and operations teams, enabling them to make more informed decisions based on accurate cost allocation data.

   Conclusion:
   I believe that these enhancements would be beneficial not only to many other users of EKS Lens who are seeking to optimise their cloud cost management practices.

8. BigQuery Lens Recommendations Improvements
